Episode 6 - Infamous Dreams
22nd day of January, 1640.
Coggy stood in the town square of the pirate haven, Tortuga. He had a large group of men with him.
"Right, lads. For the first blaggard ta find me the pirate, Maniac Moose, I's offering ye three officers shares o' plunder we took from Trinidad a few weeks back.." he called.
"Hooorrrayyy," came the cheer from the eager swabs.
"All's I know is Moose 'as a tendency ta spend most of 'is shore-leave wit as many wenches 'is longsword can 'andle," continued Coggy, "so 'e could be in any of the whore houses in this 'ere town of ours. But best check all the townhouse's too, 'cos rumour 'as it 'e be a bit of divil wit tha fair maidens too…"
The men looked on with interest as Coggy continued...
"So, for tha one dat finds 'im, tell tha randy bugger ta git 'is sorry butt over to the Silver Sloop tavern." he finished.
The group of men soon scattered, eagerly searching for Captain Moose.
Ten minutes later...
Davey Jones was propped up against the far wall of the tavern. He looked a bit worse for wear but Coggy had managed to sober the drunken pirate up a little.
"Git us another bottle, Cogs" he pleaded.
"Nay lad, I needs yew sober," said Coggy, "The only drinkin' to be 'ad is gods own water" continued Coggy, as he proceeded to throw a bucket of cold water into Jones' slobbering face.
Just then, Henry Morgan made way his over to the two pirates, "Harrrr, Harrrr, Coggy! Yer wastin' yer time with that 'un," he laughed.
Within a few moments, Coggy, Morgan, and the now sober Davey Jones, sat in the corner of the tavern.
"Thought ye was headin' ta 'ell, Coggy" asked Morgan.
"Arrrr, 'dats what I's wantin' ta talk to ye 'n Davey about." replied Coggy in a hushed tone, "'appen I's come into possession of an old treasure map!"
"How much? and where it be?" asked the curious Morgan.
"Don't know the true amount, but I reckons thars more gold coins thar, than in all o' the palaces of Spain!" replied Coggy, as he watched the eyes of the two pirates fill with greed.
"As for it's exact location, 'Enry, that's where me problem lays" sighed Coggy.
"What'd ya mean?" Davey asked.
"The maps incomplete. The part I owns gives a latitude bearing only. 'Appen tha Ol'Man from Cartagena 'as tha other part o' it showin' the longitude." explained Coggy.
"I wus wonderin' why ye be interested in tha whereabouts o' that thar Ol'Bastid" replied Davey.
"Yeah, well, me problem bein' the Ol'Geezer be in Cartagena, like I said, and I's needin' tha 'elp o' me brethren ta get at him. Cartagena be a bastard of a place ta get into" continued Coggy.
"So, ye need our 'elp, eh? What's in it fer us?" asked Morgan, curiously scratching his beard.
"Well, matey, If'n we survives the attack on Cartagena - all the plunder yer scurvy men can carry. 'An if'n we gets tha Ol'Bastids piece 'o map, ye get an equal share o' the treasure when we finds it." said Coggy, waiting eagerly for his mates response.
"So, whaddya say?" he asked.
"Bleedin' 'ell, Cog." said a cautious Davey, "Ney ones sacked Cartagena since Francis Drake."
"Aye, it be a graveyard fer scum like us, Coggy." added Morgan.
"Didn't say it'd be easy, but me tinks tha risk 'is worth all that loot," said Coggy, trying to convince the greed filled faces of the two swabs.
Davey Jones and Morgan looked at one another for a moment.
"Ok, Coggy… I's in," said Davey.
"Me too, but only if'n me mate, Quinny, can come along…" added Morgan, "He be a good lad and 'e gave me a good deal on a flag I bought from 'im"
"Hey!… maybe the scurvy swine will design us a flag for the occasion!" he announced.
"Ok, 'Enry," replied Cog "'appen I's 'erd o' Mr Quinn, 'e be tha one from Tampico. Any swab commin' from that vile cesspool is surely scum enough ta be an asset to our endeavours." added Coggy, as the three swabs shook hands.
Just then, the tavern door flew open, and in walked the pirate Maniac Moose.
"WHERE THE FRIGGIN' 'ELL IS DAT COGNITO BASTARD?" he growled at the bartender.
Moose stormed over toward the three pirates, "Right, yer bleedin' git! Whaddya tink yer playing at getting a group o' bilge rats ta disturb me R & R?" he barked.
"Calm down, Moosey" said Morgan, "Coggy, 'ere, as got some excitin' news ye might be interested in!"
"'Ad better be good, Cog." said Moose, as he sat down next to the Captain and gave him a menacing scowl.
"Sorry fer interuptin' yer 'lil party thar Moose, but I's got something better than any ol' whore can give ye - and yee've got ney chance of catchin' any scabs 'r lice from it, neither!" replied Coggy.
The four pirates talked late into the night, about jewels and gold, the Ol'Man, and their exciting plan of becoming the scurviest, most infamous, murderous blaggards to sail the Caribbean.
